1. Purpose This policy defines how JoHS engages with commercial advertising and sponsorships, ensuring all activities support the Journal’s mission and comply with ethical standards, including COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Core Practices.
2. Guiding Principles
JoHS maintains strict independence between editorial decisions and commercial relationships.
Advertising and sponsorship will not influence peer review, editorial content, or acceptance decisions.
All commercial content must be clearly distinguished from peer-reviewed material.
3. Acceptable Commercial Activities JoHS permits
Sponsored supplements: Sponsorship of the Short Reports on Simulation Innovations Supplements (SRSIS). Sponsor recognition is limited to branding and acknowledgements. Sponsors have no editorial input.
Website Banner Advertising: Placed away from editorial content to avoid confusion.
Social Media Promotion: Partner content is co-developed, labelled as “Sponsored” or “Partner Content,” and remains distinct from editorial messaging.
4. Partner Eligibility
Partners must align with JoHS’s mission and values.
Organisations must not create actual or perceived conflicts of interest with editorial operations.
All partnerships are subject to approval by the Editor-in-Chief and/or designated editorial board members.
5. Transparency and Disclaimers
Sponsored content and ads are labelled clearly.
A disclaimer will state: “Sponsorship does not imply endorsement of products or services by JoHS.”
Duration and nature of sponsorships will be communicated openly.
6. Oversight and Review
The Editor-in-Chief, supported by nominated Senior Editor(s), oversees compliance.
This policy will be reviewed annually and revised as needed.
7. Ethical Commitment This policy replaces any previous JoHS Advertising Policy and reinforces our commitment to COPE standards of transparency, editorial independence, and integrity.
