Clément Buléon

MD, Ph.D.

Clément Buléon is an anesthesiologist with a longstanding commitment to healthcare simulation, a field he has been actively involved in since 2006. His early work focused on the development of the simulation center at Caen University Hospital, which he established during his doctoral thesis in 2009 and directed until 2021. His first published research (2011) explored translational applications of simulation in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, marking the beginning of a prolific in simulation-based research.

Over the past decade, Clément has been deeply engaged in designing, executing, and publishing simulation studies, collaborating with national, European, and international networks. Since 2017, he has served as chair of the Research and Scientific Committee of the Société Francophone de Simulation en Santé (SoFraSimS).

Between 2018 and 2021, Clément pursued a PhD focused on developing a unified simulation-based training and assessment program for anesthesia and intensive care. During this time, he undertook an international scholar and research fellowship at the Center for Medical Simulation (CMS) in Boston, where he remains affiliated as a research collaborator. Since 2022, he has been spearheading international relations and innovation initiatives at the Liège University Hospital simulation center, fostering global collaboration and driving advancements in healthcare simulation. In 2024, he achieved the Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR), qualifying him to supervise PhD candidates. His work continues to shape the field of healthcare simulation through innovative research and global collaborations.
