Makani Purva is Chief Medical Officer and Consultant Obstetric Anaesthetist at Hull Teaching Hospitals, UK. She was the Founder Director of Simulation at Hull Institute of Learning and Simulation, the largest simulation centre in Yorkshire.
Dr. Makani is the Past President of the Association of Simulated Practice in Healthcare in the UK. She is the lead author of the first simulation standards in the UK. She has also developed an accreditation process to enable self, programme and organisational accreditation. She was one of the first to establish a Post Graduate MSc course in Simulation in collaboration with Hull University.
Dr Purva is an Honorary Reader at Hull York Medical School and was on the editorial board of the BMJ STEL. Her research publications focus on in situ simulation modalities, curriculum mapping using simulation and use of simulation to reduce learning curve.
The Journal of Healthcare Simulation - Advances in Theory & Practice (JoHS) is a single-blind peer-reviewed open access journal.
