Paul Murphy engages in transdisciplinary, collaborative research focusing on simulation-based education for health and social care as well as arts-based interventions for public health. He works in a broad range of subject areas including medical education, nursing, psychiatry, public health, sociology, and social work. He is presently developing a hybrid model of simulation based on the work of Konstantin Stanislavski and Erving Goffman that can be applied across the broad spectrum of healthcare and social care.
